The Laboratory of Genomics, Molecular Ecology and Evolutionary Studies is part of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology of the University of Santiago of Chile. Our studies integrate molecular analysis of genes and genomes, bioinformatics, biochemistry, ecology, and phylogenomics to understand the evolution and functional importance of gene expression. Likewise, genomic annotation and epigenomics are great expertise in the lab.
The second area of investigation is the use of high throughput DNA/RNA resequencing and alternative strategies to identify mutations in immunological candidate genes involved in a variety of viral and bacteria pathologies
A major recent focus has been in assessing next generation sequencing technologies for their application to address outstanding issues in biology
Our facilities in the Department of Biology of the University of Santiago include state-of-the-art high-throughput molecular genomics, proteomics and metabolomics.
